twenty-third breath ✧ voice/action

[Isamu is in the kitchen, searching the refrigerator while his journal lies open on the counter.]

Hey, Sanji. We're probably gonna be busy tonight, right? So you'll need me to come in?

[There's the hiss-pop sound of a soda can being opened.]

Unless of course there's some girl out there who really wants to be asked out by me, but I'm not holding my breath.

[Richard just tilts his head back with another appreciative sound as a shiver makes its way up his own spine, his arms sliding around Isamu's waist to tug him even closer.]

[Reaching his ear, Isamu bites into that too, though lightly. He digs his nails deeper through Richard's clothing. ...This shirt really has to go.

As he's about to try and fix that problem, he suddenly stops, face still buried against the other's neck, breaths heavy.]

[The groan that escapes him this time is much louder, and Richard is halfway into bending his own head to nip at Isamu's ear in return when the other stops. He blinks, pulling back his head just enough to look down at him with a curious expression.]

Isamu... ?

Ah... I...

[He pulls back a little, face flushed.]

Not too far. Not yet.

[Richard nods, leaning the rest of the way to nuzzle at his cheek.]

Only as far as you want.

[He nods. When Richard comes closer he can't help but pull him into a kiss again.

This isn't so awkward...]

[It's not bad at all, and Richard certainly doesn't mind playing teacher when it comes to things like this-- not when he's enjoying it every bit as much.

One kiss, coming right up.]

[This really isn't the way Isamu expected things to be. Not in the slightest. Yet he finds himself not as bothered by it as he should have been.

When he breaks away from this kiss he just... leans into Richard afterward, holding him like something of a lifeline.]

[If the way Richard's arms tighten around Isamu's waist is any indication, he feels the same way about the situation. It's unexpected, but somehow this just feels right, and without thinking he lifts a hand to rub Isamu's back while he plants soft little kisses against his cheek and hair.]

... I love you.

[THAT is even more unexpected, but somehow it just feels right too.]

Do you? [It just seems so sudden. Isamu has a hard time forming the same words in response.]

...Thank you.

I do.

[It's a little disappointing not to hear it in return, but that's okay. He can deal with it for now.]

[Isamu is a little broken on the affection front. Getting this from someone he knows and has (apparently) already been attracted to... and who knows about him and return is just...

He's a little overwhelmed. He continues to cling.]

[Richard doesn't know the full extent of Isamu's issues, but even so, he can guess at why the other boy is clinging the way he is. He probably hasn't had many people tell him they cared about him, has he?

To show that he understands, he'll just lift his other hand up to thread it through the hair on the back of Isamu's head and tug it down against his shoulder, pressing a soft kiss to his hair. He's right here, and he isn't going anywhere.]

[He'll be staying that way for a while. When he lets go at last, he gives Richard another brief kiss before getting off him and standing up.

Then he takes a few moments to straighten up his outfit unnecessarily.]

[Richard can't help it-- when he sees Isamu fixing his clothes like that, he starts laughing.

He also can't help teasing just a little:]

That worked up already, Isamu?

[That causes Isamu to go bright red again and he stutters something incoherent, crossing his arms over his chest and looking away.]

[That prompts Richard to stand as well, going over to Isamu to steal another quick kiss. He just can't seem to stop doing that...]

Nn... [Isamu can't exactly protest.]

So... What now?

Whatever you'd like. I did say you could set the pace, after all.

[And Richard is feeling decidedly agreeable in general right now, too.

Also, he's never really been on a proper "date" before, so it's not as if he has much in the way of experience.]

You did.

Um.

How about we just make something here? Food, I mean. Like dinner.

I promise not to set the kitchen on fire in the process.

[A romantic dinner does sound nice, though, and at least Isamu hadn't been around to witness his French cooking fail the other day.]

Heh. I think we'll be fine.

We'll just... not make anything fancy.

We could always try okonomiyaki. Aside from burning it, I can't think of many ways that we could get that wrong.

[Okay, so it's not really a typical Valentine's dinner, but who cares?]

Sounds like a plan to me.

Then it's settled.

[And Richard totally isn't taking this opportunity to slide his arms around Isamu's waist and pull him close. Nope.]
