There's nothing for you to apologize for... this was hardly your fault.

I shouldn't have left you by yourself after this. It wasn't fair of me.

[Though Isamu can't see it, Richard shakes his head.]

No, I think we both needed to be alone for a while, whether we wanted to admit it or not.

How are you doing?

I'm still alive and in one piece, at least. I trust it's the same for you?

[That cheerful tone sounds just a little bit too strained to be real.]

Yeah... mostly.

[You know that tone, Isamu. This is his "out with it because I am the king" tone.]

You'll see when I get home. It's fine.

[He's not sure he quite believes you, but he'll be waiting on the sofa with a cup of tea nevertheless.]

[Isamu is something of a mess when he finally walks in. His clothes are dirty - torn in some places, his hands are bandaged around the knuckles and he had obviously been doing a fair amount of crying.

Aside from this, however, he seems physically fine.

He nods tiredly at Richard as he enters the living room.]

[Richard seems to be faring marginally better in the "not bleeding" sense, but his eyes are red-rimmed, with dark circles beneath them. Isamu isn't the only one who has been crying here, that much is obvious.

He's standing up as soon as he sees the other and walking over; then, without hesitation or any words at all, he pulls him into a tight hug. He's pretty sure Isamu needs it as much as he does right about now.]

[It's needed enough that Isamu actually returns it. He doesn't start sobbing again, though. He doesn't think he has any of that left in him right now.]

It's gonna get better, man...

Mmm...

[Richard has pretty much cried himself out as well, though he does have to force back a lump that threatens to rise in his throat. Does he believe Isamu's words? He's not sure right now.]

Have you been completely by yourself this whole time?

[A slow, silent nod. He's not even sure if Asbel is aware that Naoki has gone home yet.]

I really am sorry.

[He pulls away to look at him carefully. His eyes are clearly yellow.]

Isamu...

[Richard's own eyes widen when he sees that, breath catching... without thinking, he lifts a hand to rest it on Isamu's cheek, fingers framing his eye, because they're yellow, why are they yellow? What happened to him?]

[Isamu squirms a little, but not much.]

A-ah... it's... just the eyes. I think I'm fine...

What happened?

[He's clearly concerned, even though Isamu is brushing it off.]

I... don't know. I didn't even know it had happened until later.

They were like this when I was... you know...

[He doesn't think he needs to elaborate any more on what he means by that.]
