[Isamu is sitting outside the house, a cigarette in one hand. Every so often he tilts his head to the side, as though hearing a voice that only he can hear. He didn't smoke before now, and he still doesn't really care for it, but he felt a need to start today.

His journal lies open in his lap.]

I don't know what this place wants from me sometimes. No one does, I know.

Guess it's about that time again, huh?

[Richard's quiet for a moment, thinking... then he gets an idea, because hey, he was saying he felt bad for not repaying Isamu for things earlier, after all.

He scoots over a little closer, reaches up to angle Isamu's shoulders a bit to make this easier, and... this time it's Isamu's turn to get a (unskilled) shoulder rub.]

[Isamu sinks back a little, not complaining.]

I told you-- I don't like feeling like I haven't done anything to help in return.

[And okay, so it's not the best backrub ever, but he's trying his best.]

And I told you not to - hn - worry about it.

Unfortunately, that's one order I can't obey.

Surely you have some sort of advice you can offer me.

How about don't run off on your own for a while without telling a friend.

[He gives a soft chuckle.]

When I was a child, I used to run off to one of the castle storerooms to hide when I wanted to be alone. It looks like I haven't grown out of that quite yet, as much as I wanted to think I had.

Hey, I can understand wanting to have some privacy, I really can.
