[There's the sound of someone fumbling with their journal before it hits the floor with a loud thud. It falls open, and one might get a view of Isamu's leg hanging off the edge of the bed before he mutters a curse and retrieves it with a shaking hand.

He doesn't seem to realize it's picking anything up as he sets it down across from him. The teen himself is sitting upright in his bed, eyes occasionally darting to either side. He's still dressed in his gi from training this morning, and he's turning his ring around in one hand - the one with the demon design. He seems particularly jumpy.]

Nothing to worry about...

Heh, as you'd expect. I'll try it, anyway. [A pause as Naoki glances over one shoulder before moving over to the tubs to scoop some out.]

Go for it. It's not like I can't ever run out and get more, so take as much as you want. [Though Isamu himself is currently feeling more like red bean.]

Alright, then. Thanks. [Taking some of it for himself before heading over to sit down. He glances around when he does, expression thoughtful.]

[Watching him look around.] What now?

[After a moment; dismissively.] It's nothing.

Hmph. Fine. I get it.

Get what?

I won't speak up so you won't speak up. Even trade.

You really think I'm like that?

[He straightens up slightly.] I just thought I heard something, but it was just my imagination.

[Quickly.] Heard something like what?

Like a voice. [Like Hijiri.]

A voice? What sort of voice? [He's prying, and he shouldn't, but he needs to know if it's the same...]

[Naoki looks at him for a moment.] A voice from someone back home. Like they were here--but they're not...why?

Home, like... after the conception?

[A pause--and then he nods, before giving him a hard look. You didn't answer his question, Isamu.]

[Isamu crosses his arms over his chest and takes several deep breaths. Then he glances back in the direction of the bathroom.] When I opened that door earlier, I thought... It looked like I was about to step into one of the Amala pathways.

[He turns the spoon in his ice cream.] And I keep seeing... flashes of red along the walls every now and then. Almost like... [He trails off, shaking his head.]

[Naoki's eyes narrow, a thick swell of concern surfacing, and he sweeps his gaze slowly around the room, as though to try and see what he does.] If both you and me are hearing and seeing things, then it wouldn't be coincidence. And, it's that time...

[A bitter smile curls over his face.] Guess they thought to give us an experiment along with everything else.

You think that's what this is? [He isn't sure if that makes him feel better or not, though it's admittedly nice to know he isn't the only one dealing with it.]

I think so, yeah. This seems more along the style of their experiments--messing with our heads.

[He takes another deep breath, seeming somewhat more calmed.] Well if that's all... I'll just have to ignore it.

[Naoki musters up a little half-smile.] At least until this thing is all over.

Right. [He's stirred his ice cream into a pasty mush now, but he takes a large spoonful anyway.]

...How's the Rocky Road?

[Naoki blinks, having forgot about it, glancing down at the partially melted ice cream. He squints a little after he eats a spoonful.]

Really sweet. But not bad.
