[There's the sound of someone fumbling with their journal before it hits the floor with a loud thud. It falls open, and one might get a view of Isamu's leg hanging off the edge of the bed before he mutters a curse and retrieves it with a shaking hand.

He doesn't seem to realize it's picking anything up as he sets it down across from him. The teen himself is sitting upright in his bed, eyes occasionally darting to either side. He's still dressed in his gi from training this morning, and he's turning his ring around in one hand - the one with the demon design. He seems particularly jumpy.]

Nothing. It's nothing.

Nodded off there for a bit and must have dreamed something that threw me off a little. That's all.

But--

[And then he recalls a particular conversation from a little while ago and forcefully stops himself.] ...Alright. If you say so.

[There's a long pause, Isamu isn't closing the journal, before-] Naoki. Get over here.

[There's a bit of a surprised noise at that, but that's as much response as he'll get vocally--that, and the sound of quick footsteps. He's not even going to knock, not this time. He's just going to let himself in, looking around for him.]

[Isamu's just sitting in the middle of his bed. Nothing out of the ordinary here. He looks up as Naoki comes in, then glances toward his bathroom door.]

Hey. Open that up, will you? Then tell me what you see.

[Naoki gives him an odd look before walking toward it. He opens up the door, scanning the inside with a confused blink before looking over his shoulder at him.]

Just...your bathroom. Is there something wrong with it?

That's... what I figured.

No. Clearly it's fine.

Huh.

[Naoki stares into it for another moment or two and then shuts the door.] You really okay?

I told you. I'm fine. Must have just been tired.

...Right. [Yeah, right. Naoki shifts slightly where he's standing, unsure.]

...What?

I told you...

I know. I heard you. [Naoki turns slightly in the direction of the door, rubbing his neck.]

So...?

[Isamu's expression is oddly mixed. He both wants and doesn't want Naoki to leave at the same time.]

So, well... [Damn it. Call it mothering, I don't care.]

Can I hang out here for a while?

...

...Sure. Whatever. I've got some ice cream in the freezer. [He gets up from the bed and makes for the other room.]

[A beat, before Naoki follows after him, hands tucking in his pockets.]

What kind d'you got?

Ah... a couple flavors. Vanilla, red bean, and something called Rocky Road. [He opens the door to a small freezer, pulling out a couple tubs.]

[Naoki shifts to go and get a couple of bowls.] Huh, never had that last one before.

It's heavy on the chocolate. Has a few things mixed in. Pretty typical American, I think.

Heh, as you'd expect. I'll try it, anyway. [A pause as Naoki glances over one shoulder before moving over to the tubs to scoop some out.]

Go for it. It's not like I can't ever run out and get more, so take as much as you want. [Though Isamu himself is currently feeling more like red bean.]

Alright, then. Thanks. [Taking some of it for himself before heading over to sit down. He glances around when he does, expression thoughtful.]

[Watching him look around.] What now?

[After a moment; dismissively.] It's nothing.

Hmph. Fine. I get it.
