[When he was fairly sure the sky was clear of falling trees, Isamu had made his way outside toward the edge of town. It was late, but of the things the teen feared, creatures that went bump in the night weren't part of them. He didn't tell anyone he was leaving. He just went.

Sometime later, he can be found dozing against a light post just at the town's edge. It probably isn't the safest place to be, but he's too tired to bother walking back to the apartment complex just yet. His journal is with him, but it's closed shut.

Just a few more minutes, and he'll start walking...]

[He takes another drink before answering.]

Yeah, mutant. Changed around the same time as me and my brothers.

So my bros and I, baby turtles, right? Guess some kid just bought us from the pet store, wasn't watchin' where he was goin', almost gets hit by a truck and winds up droppin' us down in the sewer.

Slow down, man. I'm not gonna try and keep up with you. [He's only about a third of the way through his first beer as it is.]

Sewer. Got it. Go on.

Yeah, sewer. So in the truck there was this ooze. Mutagen, the stuff that turned us. It spilled down in the sewers and onto us.

My dad's just a regular rat passin' through, sees us and feels bad for us or somethin'. So he gathers us up and gets some of the stuff on himself.

Few days later, you got walkin', talkin' baby turtles and a rat.

I'm a lightweight at the moment, I'll tell you that.

Ah, it's more complicated than that. There's aliens and shit, but like I said, I don't really give a crap. [He takes a long drink. Still working on that buzz, and just about there.]

Oh, of course. Simplicity only makes it boring.

[He takes a longer drink from his bottle that's nowhere near as long as Raph's and watches the turtle with an odd expression.] Isn't this kind of unhealthy for a ninja?

[He shrugs.] Gonna die early anyways. Might as well enjoy it while it lasts.

[Frowning.] What's that supposed to mean?

Turtles have a shorter lifespan or something? Explain.
